CHINA, August 27, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Jiuzhaigou 100 Ultra-Trail Race — hosted by the Jiuzhaigou County government and operated by Naiji Race — was presented in Chamonix, France to the global trail running community. The race will be held on the 17th and 18th of October 2026 in the Jiuzhaigou region in China.

The event introduced the race management team, and the cultural and tourism resources along the route from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou, to elite athletes, event partners and members of the international press gathered in Chamonix this week.

The launch unveiled the event plan, course format, the four race distances, sustainable operational standards, and athlete service philosophy. The event will link Chengdu's rich cultural heritage with the mystical landscapes of Jiuzhaigou. The race draws on unique geographical features — including 108 alpine lakes and snow-capped mountains set amid autumn's colourful forests. The courses wind through primeval forests, alpine lakes, and Tibetan villages, creating a distinctive oriental highland trail running experience.

Race co-founder Zheng Junyue, recognised as one of the world’s most experienced ultra distance runners, brings her extensive experience to the race management and will play a key role in refining the event from a runner's perspective. By combining advanced international race organisation concepts with local mountainous characteristics, the team aims to optimise both the course experience and athlete service systems.

The event adheres to a philosophy of compliant, eco-friendly organisation. All courses have undergone official approval and planning, and ‘Leave No Trace’ standards are strictly implemented to protect Jiuzhaigou's natural ecosystem through scientific and standardised operations. The race is aiming for a total of 3,200 participants across the four categories: 100km, 50km, 21km and 12km. The inaugural 100km and 50km races will operate on an invitation-only basis for experienced trail runners, while the 21km and 12km categories are open for general registration, catering to both advanced and recreational runners.
The race will be held on 17 and 18 October 2026, during the stunning autumn season. The event has also established a strategic partnership with the professional outdoor brand KAILAS. With years of strong engagement in the outdoor industry, KAILAS is renowned for its product quality and high standards, and has long supported the development of trail running. United by a shared reverence for the wilderness and a mutual commitment to professional-grade events, the two parties are joining forces to encourage a dialogue between Chinese trail running culture and the global community.
